Eksplorasi Bagian Utara Jawa Timur sebagai Laboratorium Alam

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis potensi wilayah utara Jawa Timur sebagai laboratorium alam geografi untuk mendukung pelaksanaan mata kuliah internship pada Program Studi Magister Pendidikan Geografi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif eksploratif dengan metode kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi literatur pada beberapa lokasi di Kabupaten Gresik, Lamongan, Tuban, dan Bojonegoro. Analisis dilakukan secara interaktif melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan, serta diperkuat dengan triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tujuh lokasi potensial, yaitu Bukit Jamur, Gua Maharani, Pantai Tanjung Kodok, Bonorowo, Gua Ngerong, Sendang Maibit, dan Kayangan Api. Lokasi-lokasi tersebut memiliki keragaman fenomena fisik, sosial, budaya, ekonomi, dan lingkungan yang relevan dengan pembelajaran geografi kontekstual. Keunggulan utama kawasan meliputi kekayaan bentang alam karst dan pesisir, aksesibilitas yang relatif baik, serta peluang pengembangan penelitian lapangan dan geowisata edukatif. Namun, pengembangannya masih menghadapi keterbatasan informasi edukatif, sarana interpretasi, pengelolaan, dan ancaman kerusakan lingkungan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan perencanaan sistematis, penguatan konservasi, penyediaan panduan lapangan, dan kolaborasi antara perguruan tinggi, pemerintah, pengelola kawasan, serta masyarakat agar laboratorium alam dapat dimanfaatkan secara efektif, aman, dan berkelanjutan. Pemanfaatan diharapkan meningkatkan kemampuan observasi, analisis spasial, pemecahan masalah, komunikasi ilmiah, dan kepedulian mahasiswa terhadap keberlanjutan wilayah setempat secara menyeluruh.
